What can you Sell?

Do you want to make money selling? Selling stuff is a great way to make money. You know this just by going to the store. If you go to the mall you see people selling stuff and making money. You don't have to open up a shop at the mall in order to make money selling.

What can you sell? You can sell all sorts of things such as books, clothes, electronics, furniture, equipment, you name it. If it has value to it and people are willing to buy it, you can sell it.

There are also several places to sell things and make money selling. The two most common are to have a yard sale or to sell online.

Sell Online

Selling online has become very popular over the years. As the Internet has taken off, so have websites such as eBay or Amazon.com. With Amazon, you can sell things that are new or like new as long as it is listed. You can list the item for up to 60 days and get paid a percentage of the sale.

If you want to be a serious seller and are not necessarily going to be selling new items, you may want to consider selling with eBay. There are very many successful eBay sellers. You can sell all sorts of things whether they are listed or not.

The thing about selling online on eBay, if you want to make money selling things on eBay, you need to know how to do it. You can't just was something and expect tons of people to start bidding in the price to skyrocket. The item has to be in demand in the item has to be easily found.

You need to learn how to place items on eBay, how to position them successfully, how to take proper photos of them, and what features to use. There are lots of features that you can use to get your item more visible. Sometimes using these features will be worth it, other times it won't. For example, if you are selling something that you are expecting to get a two dollar profit from or so, you're not that I want to spend $40 trying to get your listing to the front page. On the other hand, if you are selling something that you could get several hundred dollars in profit from, and it is in moderate demand by putting on page 1 would make a huge difference, then go for it.

Find a good book or tutorial to teach you how to use eBay successfully. It can be done, but it may take a little bit of time there in the beginning.

Sell Around your Neighborhood

If you are looking to make money selling, but not necessarily on a record basis, you may want to have a yard sale. Yard sales also require some amount of strategizing. Do you live on a busy road? If not, try to find a friend or family member you can have a yard sale with who does live on a busy road.

Also, often towns have town wide yard sales where everyone in town is a yard sale at the same time and it is well advertised. This gets in the people that go to yard sales frequently and buy a lot.  Whether you are using this time or you are doing a yard sale on your own, make sure to list it in the paper and possibly put up some signs around the neighborhood and in town.

If you want to make money selling a yard sale, nature you do your pricing carefully. Don't make it so high to turn them away, but make a high enough so that if they want to barter, you don't mind going down a little bit. For example, you could add about 10 to 30% onto the price you would want to receive on each item. Maybe you price a children's toy that $10. You want to receive $10 so you put it at $12 therefore, if somebody wants it you can knock off a couple dollars to seal in the sale but still get a good price for.

Sell your Services and Skills

Another great way to make money selling that often people overlook is to sell your services and skills. Included in this could be babysitting or landscaping, but it could also be anything from helping out during event or selling your writing skills. You don't have to make a business out of it or do things consistently, but you can do well and make money selling your services.
