Employment

The first idea to make money is something you may already do or you are trying to avoid.  My first idea is to get a job.  Now, this might be frustrating to you.  You came here to find ideas to make money and you already new you could get a job to make money, right?

Well, I'd like to take it a little further.  If you are in school, you could get a part time job.  If you don't think you have the time to, I have to admit, you won't have the time to make money anywhere else either.  Look for a job that is only 5 to 10 hours a week if that concerns you.

If you have a full time job and need some extra money, look into getting a part time job.  Look for something that you think you'll enjoy.  It can be a great way to make a little extra money for yourself and open up new doors.

If you have a job you hate and aren't making much, consider going to school to learn a new trade.  I know this is working in the other direction.  You are looking to make money, not spend money on college.  If you just give it a try, you could make more money in the long run in a better career.

Start a Business

This is another great idea to make money.  You can start any kind of business: a full time business, part time business, small business, big business, etc.  If you are looking for something to make a little more money, consider just doing a small, side business.

Here are some ideas:

  • Babysitting
  • Lawn-mowing
  • Snow-shoveling
  • Pet-sitting
  • Dog-walking
  • Landscaping
  • Pet-grooming
  • Car-detailing
  • Hot dog stand or snack stand.
  • Make and sell crafts
  • Clean houses

Some of these are very simplistic.  You might think that they are just too common, but people are always going to have kids to watch, lawns to mow, and houses to clean.  When people have a need, you must fill it and charge them for it.  Give them a deal or go the extra mile to beat out the competition.

If none of those appeal to you, keep looking for a need to fill.  Look around your neighborhood and among your friends.  What do you see people need help with?  Fill those needs.

Another important thing is to understand that every idea might not work out.  That doesn't make you a failure and that, in no way, means you should stop.  In fact, that means you have more work to do.  You need to find new ideas.

Sell your Skills

Make entrepreneurship is not your thing.  If not, think about doing some freelance work for other people.  It is sort of a business that you can take on whenever you please.  Here are some things you can do for other people freelance:

  • Write articles, web content, etc.
  • Be a virtual assistant for other people
  • Be a handy(wo)man for someone else
  • Ask people if they need any help temporarily

Writing is a great one.  As a freelance writer, you probably think about writing high quality, perfect articles for big publications.  With the internet, there are many more ways to do this and ideas to make money from it.

Web content is big and you don't have to be able to write college level masterpieces.  Visit online forums to find people that are looking to buy articles for their websites.  Check out forums.digitalpoint.com.

Still at a loss?  Well, I don't have any more ideas to make money to give you, so you have to go out and try it for yourself.  Always remember that you are going to have to do some sort of work at some point or another to make money.  It's a given!
