Good Health Insurance

What kind of health insurance do you have? Is it good health insurance? Do you have health insurance at all? If you don't have health insurance, you have probably faced many consequences of the fact.

If you don't have health insurance, it's going to cost you. It's going to mean paying for all medical emergencies from broken legs to the flu, all doctor visits, all medications, and anything else medical related. As most people know, healthcare is not cheap but it is necessary.

Why does healthcare cost so much money? There are lots of reasons and factors. First of all, doctors can't afford to be inexpensive due to their own insurance being high due to risks from liability. If they make a mistake, they could get sued and lose a lot of money. If they can't keep their head above water, there is no way they can treat you and take care of you, let alone give you affordable healthcare.

Medications are often very costly as well. How can one medication be so expensive and the generic be that much cheaper? Competition? Supply and demand? Whatever it is, it is bringing up your pharmacy bill and makes medication without insurance near impossible to afford.

That is why health insurance was developed. Insurance is a promise that you will be taken care of if necessary in exchange for your monthly or annual premium payments. The coverage you get will vary, but generally, in most cases, you will be covered for at least a large part of the expenses.

How do you get Good Health Insurance?

Not all health insurance is created equally. There is good health insurance, not-so-good, excellent, and all the bits in between. There really aren't defined levels because the kind of insurance you need will depend on your own individual situation.

Many employers give their employees health benefits. If you are lucky enough to be one of these employees, you are fortunate enough to not have to buy your own health insurance. Health insurance, whether it is provided for you by your employer or you purchase it, is not taxable. That is why the value of the insurance does not show up on your check each payday.

If you get employer-sponsored insurance, you will probably be stuck with what they give you. Government employees usually get excellent health benefits. You may be able to choose a better plan if you contribute to it.

If you have to buy your own health insurance, again, you won't have to pay taxes on the money spent on it. In other words, it is tax deductible aside from the standard deduction. This means if you take the standard deduction on your taxes or not, you get to deduct this amount.

This is a good benefit but it is often dwarfed by the size of good health insurance. If you want good coverage, you have to work closely with your insurance company.

Get several quotes from different insurance companies before you stick with one company. This could mean the difference of hundreds of dollars or more. You also want to make sure you are getting the right kind of coverage. For example, if you are supporting a wife and kids, you want to make sure they are well-covered as well. If you are planning are starting a family in the near future, make sure you are covered for your future pregnancies and baby-care.

Not everyone is approved for health insurance. Some people are denied benefits at a certain level because of their health. In order to be covered, they would have to pay much more than they can afford. If you want to get good health insurance, make sure you are healthy.

You would be surprised at how much you could save just by being healthier. Your premiums will be lower and you won't have to go to the doctor's office as often and pay co-pays. Being healthy is a great way to prolong your life, feel good, look good, and save money on good health insurance.

This is really good information especially at this time when lots of people no longer have medical coverage. Voted and rated.
